SGS Reports That “10 KG Sample Flotation Tests on Variability Composites Produced Very Good Moly Grades and Recoveries in the Batch Testing”

West Vancouver, British Columbia – November 18, 2008 – Columbia Yukon Explorations Inc. (the “Company” or “Columbia Yukon”) is pleased to announce favourable results from the Phase 2  metallurgy program on the Company's Storie property molybdenum deposit located near Cassiar in northern British Columbia.

SGS Mineral Services (SGS Canada Inc.) of Vancouver, B.C. (“SGS”) was engaged by Columbia Yukon to investigate options for the recovery of molybdenum (via flotation) from the Company's Storie property. Phase 1 of the metallurgy program conducted by SGS involved sample preparation, grindability testing, mineralogical characterization through QEMSCAN analysis, rougher kinetics testing and batch cleaner testing on a master composite and also batch cleaner testing and locked cycle testing on four variability composites. In addition, the SGS metallurgy program included an environmental testing program.  The Phase 1 program results were announced in the Company’s September 25th, 2008 news release.

SGS has now successfully completed Phase 2 of the preliminary metallurgical testing of ore taken from the Storie property molybdenum project and the Company is extremely encouraged by the results of this program.  The Phase 2 program followed SGS’s initial Phase 1 recommendations, which were designed to optimize test results using a larger 10 KG sample size (as opposed to the 2 KG Phase 1 sample size).  The Phase 2 testing was performed on four composites compiled from over 100 samples taken from all areas of the deposit and SGS has reported the following results to the Company:

  • The results of the 10 KG flotation tests on four variability composites achieved a concentrate grade of 37% to 50% Mo and a recovery of 75% to 84%;

  • The master composite (composite B, which is a combination of all samples) achieved a 50.15% Mo concentrate grade, while recovering 81.2% of the contained molybdenum.

The SGS technical metallurgical report prepared for Columbia Yukon's Storie property molybdenum deposit can be reviewed on the Company's website (www.columbiayukon.com).

This news release has been reviewed and approved by Mr. Arnold Pollmer, P.Geo., who is acting as the Qualified Person for the Company’s Storie property molybdenum project in accordance with regulations under NI 43-101.
